On the supplementary budget for the year 2008 of Sulaimaniyah Provincial Council, the project of building underpass near Sulaimaniyah Museum has started since August 4th, 2009.

 Dana Abdul Karim the head of Sulaimaniyah Provincial Council projects on August 5th, 2009 announced: "the project of building underpass near Sulaimaniyah Museum has being currently carried out, with the budget of 10 billion, 781 million, 777 thousand dinar on the supplementary budget for the year 2008, and it is decided to be implemented in 90 days by Yawzler Turkish company". “This project is for reducing the load of traffic jam on Salim Street,” he added.

Dana Abdul Karim also mentioned: Sulaimaniyah Provincial Council planned for building five other underpasses in some other places in Sulaimaniyah city, but their designs were delayed by the designing company, though it is decided to be implemented in the next few months.
